As a principal security engineer with Snap, he reported directly to the CISO and leveraged expertise in intelligence and cybersecurity to set vision and develop innovative Threat Intelligence for Harms platform. Supported Trust & Safety to identify sextortion and child exploitation. He led cross-functional teams (XFN) to push the envelope, identified the necessary data sets, conduct extensive analysis, and ensure that privacy and legal protections were approved and implemented.
He personally conducted extensive analysis in deep/dark web and within native data sets to identify previously unknown bad actors. He also led security representatives in developing the holistic Insider Risk Program.
As a Director with Meta, he solved Service Level Agreement (SLA) for Intelligence and Investigations, interfacing across 5 cross-functional partners to meet regulatory requirements for threat hunt, threat intelligence, and investigations.
From 1987 to 2022, Shawn served numerous roles with the National Security Agency where he was NSA’s representative to the Department of Homeland Security on cyber and election security. He engaged with the National Cyber Director (NCD), Director of CISA, the Director of NSA (DIRNSA), and the Chief of the NSA Cybersecurity Directorate (CSD) on strategic/tactical cybersecurity initiatives, including the development of the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC), partnership and organizational enhancements, capability development, and cyber policies.
